ACCESS THE DATABASE

M. bovis Spoligotype Database.

Purpose

1. To provide authoritative names for spoligotypes of the M. bovis group of clonal lineages.

Each spoligotype pattern will be assigned a unique SBXXXX number. Where possible existing STXXX numbers will be converted to SB0XXX numbers. The database will also provide HEX code names for spoligotype patterns

2. To asses the total number of M. bovis spoligotypes that have been described.

Design

A committee of researchers (see below), active in the field of spoligotyping, defined the parameters for the database. The results of this consultation were presented by N. Smith at a workshop, "DNA fingerprinting of bovine TB strains" funded by the European Union Concerted Action Programme under Framework 5, held in Belfast in October 2002.

The database is now in the hands of Noel Smith and Rainer Hilscher (University of Sussex) who will implement the database before April 2003.

Access

All data in the database will be freely available from this website.
